Today´s expedition took us into different activities. Horseback riding, visiting a waterfall, ziplining with a Tarzan swing, and long walks into the forest of the national park, with nature being the common ingredient.
Having arrived the Guanacaste Mountain Range, we determined how close we were to a real active volcano by the sulfurous air and soil coloration. Further along we were shown the geothermal project located on the foothills of this volcano. During our foray into the national park, army ants welcomed our guests, thus attracting the first birds whose strategy is to follow the ants trying to catch any insect escaping from them.
After visiting a volcanic environment where one finds fumaroles and mud volcanos, we end the walk by the acrobatic show of spider monkeys bounding from tree to tree as graceful as any Olympian. Meanwhile others found themselves among the tropical dry forest canopy, surveying via zipline and with a harness! There is no doubt that one of the must-dos in Costa Rica is the zipline.
The final part of the group had the chance to relive the experience of the Sabanareo, or cowboy, going by horseback to the pristine “Las Chorreras” Waterfall – a perfect refresher after visiting the savanna tropics.
Clean energy and ecotourism was today’s mantra, and we are thankful for the opportunity to engage our guest to understand the impact we produce in the communities we support, who know how to link nature with energy to produce a healthy economy and a “pura vida” society.
