Our final morning on the White Continent was spent between Port Lockroy, a historic war-time British base, and Jougla Point. Port Lockroy was recently restored and opened to visitors as a museum and gift shop. It’s a rare chance for guests to do some shopping on the Antarctic Peninsula. Port Lockroy is also home to a resident gentoo penguin colony, many of which had fluffy chicks. This was the last opportunity for everyone to get their penguin fix.
The afternoon was spent cruising north-northwest into Dallmann Bay and searching for more wildlife. Fortune favored the brave as we spent nearly an hour watching humpback whales lunge feed. It was a thrilling finale to our incredible expedition.
