Early in the morning, we disembarked to the view of Puerto Ayora, the largest town in the Galapagos Archipelago.

After breakfast, we headed towards the Galapagos Giant Tortoise Breeding Center where we learned about all the conservation projects currently happening to restore the dynasty of these gentle giants. We were able to spot tortoises from different species in captivity, but the highlight of the visit was seeing the baby giant tortoises.

After visiting the breeding center, we had lunch at a waterfront restaurant and continued our exploration, taking a bus ride to the highlands of Santa Cruz to visit El Manzanillo Ranch. Upon arrival, we learned about the products processed from sugarcane and visited the giant tortoises roaming freely around the property.

After our visit to the highlands, we returned to town then boarded National Geographic Gemini to meet local artisans from the Galapagos.
