Today we woke up surrounded by some of the most dramatic landscapes in Galapagos. Towering Pinnacle Rock was just a few hundred meters away, and the fresh, black lava of Sullivan Bay, extruded in 1897, was across the strait separating Bartholomew from Santiago Island.
Walks over pa-hoe-hoe until it met red scoria was followed by snorkeling with penguins and other delightful marine creatures. The afternoon reversed the activities, snorkeling with turtles was followed by a hike up to a vista unique to Galapagos – and the sun shone all day.
