Our last day exploring the Pacaya and Samiria National Reserve began with a prebreakfast activity. We explored Supay River, either by kayak or by skiff. This area is full of wildlife, and our guests had wonderful sightings of mammals and exotic birds, including dusky titi monkeys, southern anteaters, red-throated caracaras and many others.

After breakfast, we cruised the Iricahua River. This varcea forest had a lot to show us. The diversity of wildlife and plant life the Upper Amazon is well represented in this area.

In the afternoon, we had the opportunity to visit Puerto Miguel and Yarapa River. The highlight of the afternoon was reaching a pond that was full of giant water lilies. After taking the time to enjoy the stillness of this serene site, we returning to the Delfin II to head off to our next site. We navigated to the Yarapa River, where we spent the rest of the afternoon watching for primates in the trees along the shoreline.

It was a bittersweet end to a fantastic day, as we have to leave this marvelous paradise tomorrow. But what we have seen here will not be forgotten, and each of us will carry a piece of the Amazon home in our hearts.
