Today was the first of two days spent at sea as the Caledonian Star makes her way to Arica, Chile where we will pick up guests from an extension to the Atacama desert. We will also pick up about 40 guests to do a trip from Arica to Panama. The first day was pleasant with just a slight roll to the ocean. Time was spent on deck enjoying the ever-increasing temperature as we head towards the tropics. A movie was shown during the afternoon and was followed by a talk on sea birds by David Cothran. It was St. Patrick's Day but there was no green in the sunset at sea, just nice colors and clouds as we went into dinner. After dinner Tom Ritchie explained the southern skies to us on deck.
