Southern Isabela
This morning we started early again with an empowering walk on the shores of the uplifted area of Urbina Bay. Walking along the flanks of Volcan Alcedo, we got to enjoy its marvelous shoreline and intertidal fauna.
Birds, marine iguanas, sea lions, fish and lots of invertebrates were enjoyed as we headed towards the inner part of the trail that took us to the land iguana territory. A couple of big land iguanas were expecting our visit. We learned about their habits as we tried hard to avoid the introduced yellow paper wasps flying around us.
Once we had breakfast, we had our second morning outing to go the beach of Urbina Bay. We swam and snorkeled around this area. Some of our guests chose to jump off a platform from the ship and swim around it!
The afternoon highlights were the desolated lava flow in Punta Moreno, the pink flamingoes, the zodiac ride around the mangrove sanctuary and a fabulous sunset to seal another great day in paradise.
