Another gorgeous day at Isla San Francisco, amazed at how different a single place can be. With every pilgrimage, we discover new aspects of wildlife.
We could appreciate an outstanding green color covering the island as well as the southernmost part of the peninsula. This unusual phenomenon that occurred after the last hurricane that struck Baja California Sur, with its deluge of rain, caused the deserts to blossom to life.
We started the morning today with an exciting snorkeling trip where we identified 37 species of fish, including the gorgeous king angel, as well as a variety of invertebrates. Then while we were hiking on the rocky part of the beach, we found several young eels under the rocks, in pools as the tide receded. While we could not photograph the eels, this striped shore crab Pachygrapsus crassipes jumped right out at us and posed for this great shot.
