A brilliant green flash welcomed the morning as we approached Los Islotes, a site where California sea lions are found throughout the year. We spent our morning watching these fascinating creatures from our expedition landing craft and by donning snorkels and masks to enter their undersea world.

By midafternoon the ship had relocated to the southern tip of Isla Espiritu Santo. A white sand beach bordered salt-tolerant vegetation and the desert beyond. It was a perfect spot to wander the shore, explore inland, kayak, climb onto paddleboards, and to do some more snorkeling.

The evening wrapped up with our guest slide show, the preview of our video chronicle, and some footage taken by our undersea specialist. It was a wonderful way to spend our final night together on the National Geographic Sea Bird.
