Our day in Santorini was unforgettable. We began with a morning hike across the volcanic island of Nea Kameni, taking in breathtaking views of the caldera and feeling the warm earth beneath our feet. Afterward, we cooled off with a rejuvenating swim in the thermal waters near Palea Kameni—an incredible natural experience. Some of us chose an experience at a local farm where we tasted fresh produce and learned about the traditional agriculture of Santorini.
In the afternoon, we explored the island's rich history and some of the most iconic places of Greece. Our experiences included a visit to the Archaeological Museum and the buried city of Akrotiri, a fascinating ancient site preserved by volcanic ash. We also had a chance to explore Oia, perched on the cliffs of Santorini, that enchanted us with its whitewashed houses and blue-domed churches.
We ended our adventure with a traditional Greek dinner, complete with lively music and dancing. We were surrounded by warm hospitality, delicious food, and vibrant culture. As the sun set on our return to National Geographic Orion, it was the perfect conclusion to a day full of discovery and joy on this magical island.
