Jennifer Davidson

Naturalist/Certified Photo Instructor

Jennifer Davidson is a photographer and photo-educator based in the Texas Hill Country. Her photography captures the pulse of a place and the stories being lived out within it. A seasoned and avid traveler, she spends much of her time in the Western U.S. and Latin America, exploring the landscapes, cultures, and wildlife that make these regions special.

Jennifer’s love for the natural environment has been a life long affair with several manifestations.  She grew up in a ranching family in West Texas where the population is sparse and the views extend unobstructed for miles.  In college, she traded the open range for the sea, pursuing degrees and a career in marine biology.  Jennifer has worked in the open ocean at the Flower Gardens National Marine Sanctuary, on the barrier reefs of Mexico’s Sian Ka’an Biosphere Reserve, and in the shallow seagrass meadows of the Texas coast.  Through these endeavors, she often had her camera in hand, for both scientific and artistic purposes.  In 2005, Jennifer devoted her energy full time to pursue photography. She has photographed a variety of cultures and environments and believes in the power of her images to relay a story.  Some call for preserving a cultural heritage; others for the conservation of unique places. Still others call us to simply slow down to appreciate the natural beauty that is around us.

As much as Jennifer loves being behind the camera, she has an equal passion for sharing that creative fire with others.  Since 2007, she has led numerous photography workshops throughout the United States, with National Geographic Expeditions and Santa Fe Photographic Workshops, encouraging people of all levels to expand their creative boundaries with camera in hand.  She also began traveling with Lindblad Expeditions that year and continues to lead their photo expeditions, coming alongside aspiring photographers to help them improve their images while visiting some of the world’s most amazing places.
