Joshua is our first Video Chronicler from the Galápagos Islands! He grew up on the island of Santa Cruz where he developed a strong connection with the natural world that surrounded him, and where he learned the importance of conservation.
In 2008 he left the Islands to pursuit another of his passions: art. He graduated from the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Ecuador with a bachelor’s degree in Visual Arts. He has had 17 solo and collective art exhibitions, has won various scholarships and has taken courses in Ecuador and Europe.
He then returned to the Galápagos Islands to volunteer at the Charles Darwin Research Station; he still works as a consultant to CDRS. In July 2018 he became part of the Lindblad Expeditions and National Geographic family. Working for LEX/NG he can be close to nature and, through his work as a Video Chronicler and photographer, he can showcase the uniqueness of his home islands and why it is so important to conserve and protect them.
In the future Joshua would like to open an art residency in the Galápagos to inspire writers, artists, musicians, photographers and filmmakers from all over the world to come and develop their work in these extraordinary islands.
