Sheri Bluestein

Expedition Leader

Sheri has over 12 years of experience sharing the wonders of Alaska as a hiking guide, expedition leader, cultural interpreter, and naturalist. For 10 of those years, she made her home on the Kenai Peninsula where she spent her free time hiking, growing enormous vegetables, and successfully avoiding bears and moose on her way to the outhouse at night.

Much like an Arctic tern, Sheri migrates far south when it’s winter in the Northern Hemisphere. She worked for eight seasons on the U.S. Antarctic Program at McMurdo Station, spent an austral summer on the subantarctic island of South Georgia, and now enjoys life as a naturalist on board expedition cruise ships in the South Atlantic Ocean and the Southern Ocean.

Sheri has lived, worked, volunteered, and traveled on all seven continents. She spent several years in Portland, Oregon, and just over three years in Amsterdam, where she became fluent in Dutch. She currently resides in the French Pyrenees, living in a restored cow barn with her Dutch husband, who she met while riding an elephant in Thailand.
