Brooke Juhala

Brooke Juhala (she/her) is an international Documentary Filmmaker, Photojournalist, and Science Communicator based in Bremerton, Washington.

Whether co-producing the three-part streaming series Inseparable, directing outdoor education videos for REI, or documenting a first ascent in the Faroe Islands for Rock & Ice, Brooke’s work is grounded in a deep passion for the natural world, blending visual storytelling, adventure, and environmental education. Within her editorial and branded portfolio, Brooke explores themes ranging from sustainable tourism practices to high-altitude ski mountaineering. Her projects have been published by outlets such as the BBC, Climbing Magazine, Freeskier, Mountain Life, Outside, Patagonia, The North Face, and Vogue.

Most recently, Brooke has been contracting as a digital correspondent with OceanX aboard the OceanXplorer—the most advanced research and exploration vessel ever built—where she translates cutting-edge marine science and research into accessible, engaging multimedia. From producing live segments to capturing photo and video content, she helps bring deep-sea exploration to life through storytelling that resonates across digital platforms.

Aboard the National Geographic-Lindblad Expedition vessels, Brooke will be serving as your Certified Photography Instructor. She has led immersive experiences in some of the world’s most remote and pristine environments in this role, offering photography guidance and natural history interpretation that empowers travelers to better understand and document the places they visit. Beyond the camera, Brooke brings a wealth of field experience alongside professional certifications such as Wilderness First Responder, AIARE I, and Rescue Diver. She volunteers with Olympic Mountain Rescue and is an avid trail runner, backcountry skier, and scuba diver — skills that inform her grounded, sustainability-first approach to our time within these remote, delicate environments.

Brooke thrives on projects that elevate underrepresented voices, celebrate the natural world, and use visual storytelling as a tool for meaningful environmental impact. Brooke is thrilled to be aboard this voyage with you and can’t wait to share in the beauty of our planet together.
