Eric Guth
Shaped by the landscapes of the Pacific Northwest, Eric Guth grew up in Portland, Oregon, studied Environmental Studies at the University of Oregon and now lives on San Juan Island in Washington state. His long-standing interest in cold, glaciated environments has guided both his photography and expedition career.
Introduced to photography at an early age, Eric has spent decades documenting polar and temperate regions around the world. His work has included photographing glacier caves on four continents, installing time-lapse cameras in Antarctica with the Extreme Ice Survey and contributing to Meet the North, a cultural journalism project supported by the Lindblad Expeditions-National Geographic Fund focused on Arctic landscapes, wildlife and communities.
Eric has logged more than 20 years at sea as a Naturalist and Certified Photo Instructor with National Geographic-Lindblad Expeditions. On board, he supports guest learning through photography instruction and field-based interpretation.
His broader interests include glaciology, geology, sea ice dynamics, avian studies and animal migration, subjects that inform his lectures and help place expedition experiences within a larger environmental context.
