Jorge Moreno

Raised in the Canary Islands, Jorge is a marine biologist, expedition guide, and science communicator whose connection to the ocean began in the Atlantic. With a background in marine ecology and more than a decade of field and expedition experience, he has worked across remote environments, including the Azores, Baja California, St. Helena Island, São Tomé and Príncipe, South Africa, and Antarctica.

Specializing in field research from boats, scuba diving, and freediving, Jorge studies marine megafauna, including sharks, rays, whales, and other apex predators. He has led conservation projects using electronic tagging to better understand migration patterns, habitat use, and ecosystem connectivity across ocean basins. He continues to collaborate with NGOs and research teams worldwide, connecting scientific research with expedition travel. As a naturalist and lecturer, Jorge translates complex science into engaging stories that combine ecology, oceanography, conservation, and human history, helping guests understand not only what they are seeing, but why it matters. A well-timed sense of humor keeps his presentations and Zodiac excursions memorable.

When not guiding expeditions, Jorge enjoys diving, climbing, hiking, and spending time with family and friends. Whether at sea, on the ice, or in the mountains, he believes we can only protect what we care about, and we can only care about what we know. That philosophy guides his approach to sharing the natural world, encouraging curiosity, understanding, and a lasting connection to the places they explore.
