Juan Estrada
Juan was born among the mountain ranges of the South American Andes and raised in the tropical city of Cali, Colombia. From an early age, he was drawn to nature and the outdoors, interests that eventually developed into a lifelong commitment to travel, exploration and learning from diverse environments and cultures.
He studied at the National University of Colombia before continuing his education and professional training internationally. His experiences in South Africa, France, England, Croatia and Turkey provided opportunities to develop skills in wilderness survival, bushcraft, first aid, sailing and human behavior, while broadening his perspective on the connections between people, landscapes and cultures.
Juan's interest in the natural world led him to work in several of Colombia's protected areas, including Gorgona, Malpelo, Puracé and Los Nevados National Natural Parks. As a forest ranger, he gained firsthand experience in conservation, environmental stewardship and the management of some of the country's most remarkable marine and mountain ecosystems.
These experiences ultimately led him to expedition guiding, where he found a way to combine his interests in travel, nature and cultural exchange. For more than 12 years, Juan has sailed and guided travelers throughout the Pacific, Caribbean and Mediterranean regions, leading journeys in a wide variety of natural and cultural settings. His work has taken him to remote coastlines, islands and communities around the world, helping travelers better understand the environments they encounter.
Today, Juan continues to share his enthusiasm for exploration, connecting guests with the landscapes, cultures and wildlife that make each destination unique.
