Veronica Franklin

Veronica Franklin is a Naturalist and marine biologist with more than 30 years of professional experience across temperate and tropical marine environments. Her career has spanned research, fieldwork and animal care in a wide range of ocean ecosystems.

Along the coast of California, Veronica explored environments from intertidal tidepools to the depths of the Monterey Bay Submarine Canyon. She has participated in deep-sea research aboard oceanographic vessels using remotely operated vehicles and has logged more than 500 scientific dives, many in cold-water kelp forest ecosystems.

Her work has included husbandry care, behavioral research and training across numerous marine species, including sea otters, penguins, sea turtles, fishes, jellies, deep-sea invertebrates and sea snakes. She has also contributed to photo-documentation research on whales, dolphins, monk seals, whale sharks, manta rays and other marine wildlife.

Veronica spent several years working in Hawai‘i, where she continued field research and observation in tropical marine systems. Across her career, she has supported scientific understanding through careful documentation and long-term engagement with marine ecosystems.

Outside of expedition work, Veronica maintains an active outdoor lifestyle that includes paddling, hiking and freediving. As a Naturalist, she shares her extensive field experience and marine science background to support meaningful engagement with ocean environments.
