Today we visited the oldest island of the Galapagos. We had the chance to walk in the middle of a sea lion colony on a beautiful white-sand beach. The morning was sunny, and we started with kayaking along the cliffs and later we went for a deep-water snorkel off the nearby islet of Gardner.
In the afternoon, we explored inland and walked through nesting colonies of Nazca boobies and the beautiful waved albatross. These huge marine birds have already settled in on Española and are now mating and displaying. We had close encounters with a couple breeding pairs and also enjoyed the sunset on a peaceful beach where sea lions and marine iguanas huddled in large groups.
